Committees

Ambassador Program
The Ambassadors are a group of Chamber member volunteers who work to increase the percentage of membership renewals and to welcome new members to The Chamber. They also respond to questions, gather membership information and promote existing Chamber programs, offering them additional networking opportunities. There is an application process and a $50 fee to join Ambassadors.
Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. at The Chamber.

Business for the Arts Committee
This Committee promotes the active involvement of the business community in cultural arts programs, contributing to economic development and enhancing the quality of life in Aurora and the Eastern Metro area.
Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 8 a.m. at The Chamber.

Communications Committee
This committee’s function is to review and improve communication between the Chamber and its members. This committee is also dedicated to keeping up with technology and techniques that will enable members to build their business in an increasingly complex arena.
The Communications Committee meets on an ad hoc basis.

Defense Council
The purpose of this Council is to interface with and provide support for local military organizations, their members and the local aerospace industry that sustains them.
Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:30 a.m. Locations vary based on availability of the hosting organization.

Government Affairs/Education
This committee identifies critical business issues and works to influence the creation of public policy that benefits both the community and business. The committee also works closely with elected officials and city governments on issues concerning local business, and examines key issues related to education at all levels from pre-school to graduate level.
Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 a.m. at The Chamber. When the State Legislature is in session it also may meet on the third Thursday of the month (Jan-May) at 7:30 a.m.

Healthcare Committee
This committee reviews the many challenges that businesses face in meeting today’s healthcare affordability crisis, in order to suggest possible solutions to the problems, and to educate the professional community and the public on what the issues are and the great need to address them quickly.

Leadership Aurora
Leadership Aurora educates and prepares current and developing community leaders who are committed to shaping Aurora’s future. All Leadership Aurora applicants go through a comprehensive application and interview process. The Leadership Class consists of 30 to 35 members who attend sessions once a month, September through May. Participants pay a one-time, $950 tuition.

Safety Committee
The Safety Committee provides timely and relevant training to the Chamber’s Workers’ Comp Program participants by helping establish safety training programs, and eliminating Workers’ Comp losses, thus reducing premiums. Safety Training sessions are held on an on-going basis through Pinnacol Assurance. The sessions are free; Workers’ Comp Program participants are required to attend at least one Training Session per Program Year (April-April).
The Committee meets quarterly.

Tips & Leads
There are currently three Tips and Leads groups that each meet two times a month:
Group 1—first and third Tuesdays
Group 2—second and fourth Tuesdays
Group 3—second and fourth Mondays
The members network, exchange business leads, promote their businesses and share ideas to improve the business climate. Call The Chamber for membership availabilities. The cost is $84.00 a year.

Transportation Committee
This committee reviews and monitors transportation and transportation infrastructure-related issues brought before it and has incorporated the objectives of the Eastern Metro Transportation Coalition.
Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 a.m. at The Chamber.

Women in Business Committee
The Women in Business Committee serves as a voice for all women in business and professional areas, acting as an advocate on issues that affect their professional growth and long-term economic vitality. They annually organize the Women Making a Difference Luncheon.
This committee meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at noon.
