PURPOSE
The awards are intended to honor persons who make a substantial contribution to the Aurora Chamber of Commerce
or the Aurora community. As a result of the nominee's efforts, The Chamber and the community should have received
substantial benefits, and Aurora has become a better place to live and work due to these efforts. (Chamber member preferred)
BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
For outstanding service during 2007 by a Chamber business member
who has contributed to the community and quality of life through
its business practices, employees and community involvement.
BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR
For outstanding service during 2007 by a Chamber member who has
enhanced the City's economic base and increased the quality of
life for Aurora's residents, employees and visitors.
CHAMBER LEADERSHIP AWARDS
For outstanding performance by a Chamber member during 2007 which
furthered the Chamber's missions, objectives and programs.
WOMAN OF THE YEAR / MAN OF THE YEAR
For distinguished service by a Chamber member (both female/male)
who has advanced the community's civic, cultural and/or governmental
interests and objectives during 2007, and who have been successful
in moving others toward that vision.
HUMANITARIAN AWARD
For exemplary service in the human services field by
a community member who has demonstrated standards of excellence,
tackled difficult issues, fostered collaboration, and
offered creative problem solving to matters involving
medical, philanthropic, educational, social, economic
and/or religious interests.
COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP
An individual recognized for extensive civic participation that has resulted in an increase
in the quality of live for Aurora's citizens. Such an individual might be noted for their ability
to inspire others toward positive change and demonstrates a commitment to the community by such characteristics
as perseverance, optimism, and an unfailing ability to bring others on board to participate in community
events/activities.
BUSINESS FOR THE ARTS AWARD
For activity involving the ARts with criteria based on partnerships with other businesses, financial
contribution or in-kind services. Activity including internal programs, such as classes for or performances
by employees and external groups, or involvement with an art activity for the community.
SMALL BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR
For outstanding contributions to the community through involvement
in community projects, organizational affiliations, special service
in the Aurora area, and growth based on revenues and/or number
of employees over over the past year.
