Safety Committee

The Safety Committee provides timely and relevant training to the Chamber’s Workers’ Comp Program participants by helping establish safety training programs, and eliminating Workers’ Comp losses, thus reducing premiums. Contact: Mitzi Schindler

Tips & Leads

There are three Tips and Leads groups that meet at various dates and times during the month to network, exchange business leads, promote their businesses and share ideas to improve the business climate. Groups are kept to a maximum of 25 members. The cost is $84.00 a year. These are always very popular and productive groups.

Transportation Committee

This group closely follows transportation-related issues of importance to the Aurora business community and Chamber members. Priorities in the past have been DIA, the Alameda interchange, the I-225 widening project and light rail, as well as city and county traffic issues. The Transportation Committee meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 a.m. Contact: George Peck

With over 50 million people “surfing the net” the Chamber can help you catch a part of that audience. Your company has the ability to place an ad and a link on the Chamber web page to help direct potential customers to your services. Over 5,000 people visit the Chamber’s website each month to obtain relocation and general information about Aurora. Women In Business

The mission of the Women In Business Committee is to serve as a voice for all women in business, acting as an advocate on issues that affect their professional growth and long-term economic vitality. This committee meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at noon. Contact: Naomi Colwell

Workers’ Compensation Program

Through a combined effort with Pinnacol Assurance, the Chamber offers a competitive Workers’ Compensation Insurance Program for interested members. In previous years, many Chamber members have enjoyed large return dividends for operating a safe working environment. Contact Mitzi Schindler

Advertising Opportunities

With over 1,200 members, the Chamber membership is the perfect captive advertising audience. With member-to-member mailings, IMPACT business card ads, membership directory ads, ribbon cuttings, website banner ads, event sponsorships and relocation leads lists, the Chamber can help you get the word out about your business. Ambassadors

The Ambassadors are a group of volunteers that work as the goodwill arm of the Chamber. Ambassadors welcome new members to the Aurora Chamber by visiting with them and explaining the important role the Chamber can play in assisting their businesses. They also encourage current members to voice their opinions on the Chamber’s programs and projects. Cost for Ambassadors is $50 a year. Contact: Mary Beth Sharp

Annual Awards Banquet

This event is held each Spring, and nearly 500 business leaders attend to honor the Business Person of the Year, Humanitarian of the Year, Small Business Person of the Year, Woman and Man of the Year, Business for the Arts Award and Community Leadership Award. A silent auction is held in conjunction with the Banquet as a Chamber fundraiser. Contact: Naomi Colwell

Business After Hours/Business Before Hours/Noon Networking

Business After Hours is usually held every fourth Thursday of the month from 5-6 p.m., and Business Before Hours is normally held on the second Wednesday of the month from 7:30-9 a.m.; alternating with Noon Networking. Business Before/After Hours and Noon Networking are hosted by a member at their business site. These social mixers allow members to meet, network and explore business leads. Notification of the event is mailed out in the IMPACT newsletter. Contact: Naomi Colwell

General Membership Luncheons

At this function a special guest speaker addresses the Chamber membership during a lunchtime presentation. Luncheons are held at various locations and topics focus on items in the forefront of the news. Speakers have included Presidential nominee Bob Dole, Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen and Mayor Steve Hogan. Notification is mailed out in the IMPACT newsletter and through email. Government Affairs and Education Committee

This group identifies critical business issues and works to influence and advocate the creation of public policy that benefits both community and business. It provides guidance and direction to the Chamber’s lobbyists in the State Legislature. It also works closely with the education community, both at the primary/secondary and higher education levels, to ensure strong relations between the education and business communities and to make certain these institutions are creating an appropriate workforce to meet business needs. A very proactive group, the Government Affairs and Education Committee meets on the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 a.m. and twice a month when the State Legislature is in session (January through May). Leadership Aurora

The mission of Leadership Aurora is to provide programs which prepare current and developing community leaders committed to shaping Aurora’s future. The Leadership Class consists of 30 to 35 members who attend special sessions once a month from September to May. All Leadership Aurora applicants go through a comprehensive application and interview process. Participants pay a $950 one-time tuition. More info Contact: Kimberly Curtis

Lunch ‘N Learn Seminars

Members are invited to the Chamber office for a catered lunch and to listen to a presentation on a variety of small business interests. Past topics have included the Internet, Telephone Skills, Business Writing, and Taxes. Notification is mailed out in the IMPACT newsletter. Contact: Naomi Colwell

Business for the Arts Committee

This Committee was specially created to raise awareness and appreciation of the business community to the quality of life enhancements art can bring to a community. Business for the Arts has worked to enhance Aurora’s image by showing the positive relationship between arts and economic development. The Business for the Arts Committee meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 8 a.m. Contact: George Peck

Defense Council

The purpose of the Defense Council is to interface with and provide support for local military installations and its members. The committee’s goal is to enhance the relationship between the military command and the local community. The group meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 7:30 a.m. Contact: George Peck

Chamber Foundation

The Aurora Chamber Foundation, formed exclusively for educational and charitable purposes, was established to improve the level of citizenship; and to promote business education, community leadership, community and cultural arts. The Leadership Aurora program is the largest component of the Foundation. Some of the types of programs it has supported include adolescent advocacy, retiree re-deployment and the Police Reward Fund in cooperation with the Aurora Police Department. Contact: George Peck
