Ambassador Club
The Ambassadors are a group of volunteers that work as the goodwill
arm of the Chamber. Ambassadors welcome new members to the Aurora
Chamber by visiting with them and explaining the important role
the Chamber can play in assisting their businesses. They also
encourage current members to voice their opinions on the Chamber’s
programs and projects. Cost for Ambassadors is $40.00 a year.
Business for the Arts Committee
This Committee was specially created to raise awareness and appreciation
of the business community to the quality of life enhancements
art can bring to a community. Business for the Arts has worked
to enhance Aurora’s image by showing the positive relationship
between arts and economic development. It meets on the first Tuesday
of each month at 8:00 a.m.
Communications Committee
The Communications Committee reviews and analyzes current communication methods being used by the Chamber to reach members as well as potential members, in order to make recommendations for future communication. The committee also looks at communication trends, technology and techniques as well as the methodology to implement those resources that make sense for the Chamber and its mission of serving as the voice for the business community.
Defense Council
The purpose of the Defense Committee is to interface with and provide support for local military installations and its members. The committees goal is to enhance the relationship between the military command and the local community. The group meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 7:15 a.m.
Education & Workforce Development Committee
This group works to forge strong ties between educators and the business community to design effective programs desirable to employers and employees. It facilitates contacts between Human Resource Managers, employers and the business community to resolve issues related to creating an appropriate workforce to meet business needs. This committee has been consolidated with the Government Affairs Committee which meets on the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 a.m.
Leadership Aurora
The mission of Leadership Aurora is to provide programs which
prepare current and developing community leaders committed to
shaping Aurora’s future. The Leadership Class consists of
30 to 35 members who attend special sessions once a month from
September to May. All Leadership Aurora applicants go through
a comprehensive application and interview process. Participants
pay a $950 one-time tuition.
Government Affairs
The Government Affairs Committee identifies critical business and legislative issues that influence the creation of public policy that will benefit the community and local businesses. This committee also works closely with city, county and state government officials on issues that concern the quality of life of the business community in the Eastern Metro area. Incorporated in this committee is the Education and Workforce Committee. Government Affairs meets on the first Thursday of the month at 7:30 a.m. at The Chamber. When the State Legislature is in session (Jan-May) a second meeting is added on the third Thursday of the month.
Safety Committee
The Safety Committee provides timely and relevant training to
the Chamber’s Workers’ Comp Program participants by
helping establish safety training programs, and eliminating Workers’
Comp losses, thus reducing premiums.
Transportation Committee
This group closely follows transportation-related issues of importance to the Aurora business community and Chamber members and annually produces a Priority Project list. Priorities have included the Arapahoe/Parker Road interchange, the I-225 widening project, FasTracks light rail completion, as well as city and county traffic issues. The committee meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 a.m.
Tips & Leads
There are three different groups that meet at various dates and
times during the month to network, exchange business leads, promote
their businesses and share ideas to improve the business climate.
Groups are kept to a maximum of 25 members. The cost is $84.00
a year. These are always very popular and productive groups.
Healthcare Committee
The Healthcare Committee is currently focused on policy related to creating and training the workforce for the many health-rated jobs that are anticipated in the Eastern Metro area. The committee also tracks healthcare policy at every level and produces a Healthcare White Paper reflecting The Chamber’s position on critical health related issues. Women in Business Committee
The Women in Business Committee serves as a voice for all women in business and professional areas, acting as an advocate on issues that affect their professional growth and long-term economic vitality. They annually organize the Women Making a Difference Luncheon. WIB meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at noon.
