Creativity Thrives at DAVA – Business for the Arts / November 7, 2017

The Business for the Arts committee took a field trip to Downtown Aurora Visual Arts (DAVA) for their November 7 committee meeting. DAVA is located at 1419 Florence Street in Aurora, CO.

Jessica Gross, who serves as the Portable Arts School Coordinator and Communications and Administration for DAVA, greeted the large group of art enthusiasts and talked about the mission and programs of the organization.

For nearly 25 years, DAVA has been providing high-quality, out-of-school art education programs for urban youth ages 3 to 17, with a mission of strengthening the community through the visual arts with youth engagement as the primary focus.

This is done through a variety of programs, including Family Arts (ages 3-6 accompanied by a parent), Job Training (Middle school students, in the computer art lab or studio arts), DAVA Open Studio (ages 7-17), and Portable Arts School (bringing art experiences to local schools and community organizations).

Members attending the meeting toured the recently renovated space that displays student artwork throughout and had the opportunity to experience some of the interactive artwork created by DAVA students.
