Function: The Defense Council works with the local military installations, the aerospace industry and other business and professional representatives to provide support and interaction among the respective communities. The mission, goals and primary functions of this, one of the Chamber’s oldest councils, are in keeping with a community with historic ties to the military. Highlight of the year for this busy committee is the annual Armed Forces Recognition Luncheon which recognizes and honors outstanding young troops from all branches of the service including their Reserve and National Guard elements.
