Supporting homeless veterans and their families – Defense Council / Aug. 25, 2016

More than 80 people attended the Defense Council meeting on Thurs, Aug 252016.  The Embassy Suites by Hilton, Denver Stapleton hosted the meeting and provided a delicious full course breakfast.   James Gillespie from Mile High Behavioral Healthcare discussed Comitis Crisis Center’s mission to support the homeless and their unique support of homeless veterans and their families.  The Defense Council has been working closely with Comitis for the past year and will continue to focus on homeless veterans as their special interest area for 2016-17.   Clothing drives, fundraising challenges and monthly dinners are some of the initiatives planned over the next year.  In addition, unit reports were provided by local commanders to include the new 460th Space Wing Commander, Colonel David Miller.   Next month’s Defense Council will take place September 22nd.  It will be a rare opportunity for members of the Defense Council to visit the Aerospace Data Facility Colorado on Buckley AFB.
