What is Leadership Aurora?

It’s a 10-month community engagement program designed to develop an awareness of the Aurora community, create a network of informed leaders, and encourage greater involvement in the community.  The program begins with a mandatory two-night retreat in mid-September and culminates with a graduation program in early June.

APPLICATION INFORMATION
Applications for the 2025-2026 Leadership Aurora Class are open – and are due by July 15, 2025.

A representative group of 35-40 candidates will be sought from all segments of government, education, labor, business, professional and geographic areas within the Aurora community. Individuals with no sponsoring group may be self-nominated. A written application and personal interview with the Selection Committee is required. Candidacy is open to all regardless of age, creed, race, or philosophy who seek to contribute their particular skills, knowledge, and expertise to the betterment of the Aurora community.

  • Tuition for Leadership Aurora is $1,500. Tuition covers all program costs, meals, and materials. Tuition may be paid by the candidate’s employer, a sponsor, or by the candidate. Partial scholarships are available and are awarded to Chamber members based on need and class composition.
  • The deadline each year for the application for Leadership Aurora is July 15th.

Full tuition is due before September 1st. No tuition refunds will be made after the class member has participated in the opening retreat. See Cancellation & Refund Policy for more details.

What is Emerging Leaders?

The first three months of the program are focused on personal leadership development. Included are leadership qualities, traits, and skills; emotional intelligence; and ethical behavior.
Team/Interpersonal Relations and Community Relations are covered in the last two months with an emphasis on organizational communication and conflict resolution.

  • Tuition of $950 includes the orientation, monthly sessions, meals, and materials. A limited number of partial scholarships are available to Chamber members that are not able to pay the full tuition. Scholarships are awarded based on need and class composition.
  • Application must be received at The Chamber by October 15th.
