The Government Affairs, Education and Energy committee regularly tracks ballot initiatives and amendments that could be on the November 2018 ballot. At the September 6 meeting, Aurora Mayor Bob LeGare and Vice President of Advocacy for the Colorado Farm Bureau Shawn Martini, presented their sides on Amendment 74, which made it to the ballot.
LeGare spoke for the opposition and Martini spoke for support of Amendment 74, which is Just Compensation for Reduction in Fair Market Value by Government Law or Regulation. The Chamber’s Board of Directors did take a position to oppose this Amendment.
A few members of the committee left the meeting early for an opportunity to tour the Lowry Landfill. EIS Insurance helped arrange the tour in conjunction with Waste Management. Members from the Aurora Chamber and South Metro Chamber both participated in the tour.
