A Safer Community “by the Day” – Diversity and Inclusion Council / Nov. 4, 2016

Aurora Police Department’s Chief Nick Metz was the guest speaker at the Nov. 4 Diversity and Inclusion Council. Metz spoke about leadership, and how the APD is reaching out to the community in order to strengthen trust and bring the community together. As an example of that outreach, he shared Empowering, a book that provides resources, procedures, and laws, to help youth better understand APD’s mission “to make Aurora safer by the day.” The book was inspired by and written for youth in the community.

Benevolent Tate with Advocates for Children also made a short presentation about the organization’s need for volunteers, especially during the holidays. The organization is also collecting toys for children.
