Breakfast and Bills – Government Affairs, Education, and Energy / Jan. 9 & 19, 2017

On January 9, 2017, The Chamber’s Government Affairs committee held the Pre-Session Legislators’ Breakfast at The Community College of Aurora. There were four Legislators and more than 100 attendees.  Senator Nancy Todd, Senator Rhonda Fields, Representative Mike Weissman and Representative Janet Buckner each discussed action items they will be working on this legislative session.

At the Jan. 19 meeting, the committee discussed the Governor’s Priority Bills:

  • Marijuana tax increase up to 12% to go towards schools
  • Mental Health Services
  • Construction Defects

The committee also took a position on the following bills:

  • HB 17-1054 – Reps. Nordberg & Carver & Sen. Todd – Community-military Cooperation (Support)
  • HB 17-1056 – Rep. Weissman & Sen. Kefalas – Criminal Sentencing Community Service Veterans Organizations (Support)
  • SB 17-001 – Sen. Neville & Rep. Neville – Alleviate Fiscal Impact State Rules Small Business (Support)
