In September, Quill Phillips, Special Assistant to the President for Inclusive Excellence, with the Community College of Aurora, presented on a highly requested topic (derived from a Council survey); Who am I hiring? Understanding Implicit Bias in the Hiring Process.
Phillips started the presentation with some hard facts into how bias affects decisions in the workplace, and the negative effects it can have on a company’s bottom line. In the presentation, she covered: learning community guidelines, different types of bias, addressing bias and best practices for applying this in the workplace.
